Back in 2006, George Lucas wanted to produce a Star Wars spectacular for the annual Tournament of Roses Parade in California, for New Year’s Day, 2007. Central to his plan was bringing costumed Star Wars fans – more than 200 stormtroopers, Imperials, and Rebels – to march from countries all over the world. Lucas specified that he wanted these troopers in the parade both to make it spectacular, and to thank the fans for the great work they do for charity and community.
Star Warriors features the story of these marching fans, focusing on their selection, training, and participation in the 2007 Rose Parade. Produced by Kevin Burns and Prometheus Entertainment for Lucasfilm, the movie is a tribute to the 501st and Rebel Legions, the global organizations of Star Wars costuming enthusiasts, their charity and volunteer work, and of course their participation in the parade
Star Warriors has only been shown on the big screen at Star Wars Celebration Japan in 2008, and now will be featured at Celebration Europe!
This special screening of Star Warriors will conclude with a selection of never-before-seen footage featuring the fans’ preparation for the parade, focusing on the costumed fan groups from Europe.
